Chloe X Halle and the Carefree Black Girl Album We Didn't Know We Needed.
The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and A Seat At The Table both have a defining moment in my life. I love when a record truly speaks to my being and, my current obsession and I may be on the wave a bit late, Chloe X Halle. I’ve always known them as Beyonce's protégés and stumbled upon their videos from time to time but never really paid attention to their dopeness. Grown-ish was it for me I fell in love with their hilarious and very real characters Jazlyn and Skyler not to mention all their music featured in the show. Also, I just love a good sister duo ie Beyonce & Solange, Debbie Allen & Phylicia Rashad, and Venus & Serena; Chloe x Halle just dropped their debut album The Kids Are Alright and it’s all I’ve been able to listen to. It’s the music that makes me just want to have a solo dance party, just throw up my hands and sway. The distinct definition of their voices that blend oh so beautifully together are so tantalizing to the ear. With lyrics that promote feminism, exposing all the fakes, and all around self-awareness of ones dopeness is why I cannot stop listening. This album takes me to a place of my younger self and realizing all the things that I thought was such a big deal, really don’t matter anymore. I’m reminded of my growth and how all the things I thought seemed impossible the answer was always within. Chloe X Halle “The Kids Are Alright” is streaming everywhere and if this post hasn’t convinced you just check them out for yourself.
