Local Designers You Should be Shopping Now: Philly Fashion Week Edition

Dilworth Park has been a steady work in progress for some time now well at least in my head. The last thing I can remember about this place was cutting through it heading to Market Street after class while in college. I would have never imagined there would be dancing water and such a sight to take in had it not been for Philadelphia Fashion Week hosting their shows last weekend. From my understanding City Hall/ Dilworth Park has been one of their many homes for Philly Fashion Week previously. So of course the energy an excitement was there for everyone attending and also for returning attendees. Now let's not forget the new home for Philly Fashion Week {2300 Arena} which is a phenomenal venue but Dilworth park definitely gave much of a New York Fashion Week Vibe. PFW had many photographers and spectators there to take in all the fashion and stylish concepts. I was able to attend both shows from a blogger/media perspective and another from front row where I could actually take in all the moments. I attended the show with my dear fashion connoisseur Andre {not Leon Tally } but he is damn near close to him! Together we were able to critique and share opinions about what Philly Fashion Designers brought to the table which we were given such a variety it was hard to narrow it down. I also met an awesome photographer Anthony Thomas who was able to snag great runway photos of Philly Fashion Week for me.

My Top Picks that you should be shopping Now

J. Pratt – This collection had great cuts very straight forward because many of his looks he allowed the colors to do most of the talking. J. Pratt included exaggerated shoulders with bodacious scalloped organza. Phenom color coordination for the women with deeper skin tones these dresses will definitely pop on you!

Clarence Clotty – This is a menswear collection that I will have in my pocket for my future husband. This collection was amazing to view and the hues of the suits bounced off the lights like Christmas ornaments. Frosted, Highlighted, and tailored.

Chicago Playground- I've never been a fan of prep style but this collection sold me with the African flare he chose to add to much of his looks. Denim patched work and prep jackets. This collection is prefect for stylish preppy looks for the transitioning season from summer to fall.

Shahedah Textiles – I viewed this collection last season and I must say I love the growth of this designer. This year she chose a nautical theme color scheme with hints of black. What I enjoyed most about this collection was that she paired her looks with red boxing gloves. This collection was made to pay homage Sickle cell Awareness.

These Pink Lips – The Coats! This is the year of the trench coat and I'm here for it. What's even better is that they have motivational and empowering print work all over them. Grl Fckn Pwr!

John JNL Leon – Bridal inspired but very wearable classic silhouettes which I adored. I loved the femininity of this collection. #WowFactorAlert attending a gala, benefit or bridal shopping? This collection I definitely recommend.

Christobal Woman – This designer has such an eye for edge and eclectic items to wear. I was blown away and had another #WowFactorAlert when the holiday plaid married the black tulle with such abstract silhouettes. Each look is something I'm ready to purchase for the coming holiday! This designer also showcased menswear that also had me very intrigued.
