Fashion Weekends in the City
Fashion week has snuck up on us, well on me at least and this year's shows have been memorable so far. I started off last weekend with a pit stop at the Essence street style festival which is in its the third year of its kind. Bringing all of us fashionistas together to appreciate certain pieces in our wardrobe is definitely something I didn’t want to miss. The festival was held in Dumbo- Brooklyn, New York and you were able to spot some really cool pieces while there. The festival had food trucks of everyone's taste buds accompanying hair care stands by Shea Moisture, Body Care and even a kids-zone for the family. Every year that I attend this festival its always so much love, passion and art you have no choice but to smile.
The night wrapped up with a fashion presentation for J. Loren Collection called "Her" a line filled with dark feminine pieces. This presentation consisted of dark colors with futuristic silhouettes accented with shiny metals such as platinum, mini biker jackets to wet python coupled with feathers. This collection definitely had the eye rolling all over. The "Her" collection had many amazing factors along with its color scheme. The designer actually came out and said a few words regarding his decision to make this collection and what it stood for. He later explained that this collection was all about being a woman of strength and standing in your own grace. Which I thought was a fabulous add to the aesthetic of the presentation because of the textured and dramatic pieces the models where wearing they seemed "hard" but the overall styling made them still radiate femininity and sultriness.
