Between The Lines Summer Tour

Friday, June 3rd marked the kick-off for summer street wear in the urban fashion community. Hashtags and Highheels was invited to attend the Summer Tour featuring labels Misfits Rebellion and Wise Guy Apparel, all very influential labels in the street style category. This year's summer tour was to identify how unified streetwear fashion can potentially be. The goal of this show was to learn from each other and really radiate a positive image in the fashion industry. Our American fashion culture can sometimes come across as so demanding but also very competitive, all I can honestly say is that I felt nothing but love while reporting at this event.

The show was held at Open Space where there was a fashion show and art exhibit with art from Rajy {@sirxj) on the first level and a live band, tattoo demonstration and a brief cocktail hour on the lower level. I was also able to interview Jazmine Basiege { Make-Up Artist} about the direction the beauty team was going towards for the show and she later explained that she and her team {@makemeupchris and @flo_fasha} where going for flaw-less skin, neutral eye and bronzy accents. They aimed for a summer glow but more importantly a perfected skin finish. They also were able to show off their artistry in a dramatic scene of the show where they showcase body paint and a smoky eye. In support of the hair trend there wasn’t any direction Princess Paige {Hair Stylist} couldn’t go in, she based each models hair-du off of what their hair standard already was and chose instinct as her trend of choice for the styling of the show.

The show began with entertainment from a few local vocalists and began with Misfits Rebellion whose collection inhabited a message of being able to stand alone. This label embodies the mere fact that it's okay to rebel against the social norm and chose what it is that makes you YOU. This collections concept is bad ass but also very comfortable with wearable items such as t-shirts, hoodies, fitted hats and bushy beanies for the winter seasons.

Between the lines summer tour then concluded with Wise Guy which gave a sort of good guy gone bad or a bad guy going good aesthetic with the brands logo being a teddy bear who seems to have a good and bad side. This line in my opinion is very relatable because fashion can be so moody or 50/50 meaning the way we dress is emotionally driven {we dress how we feel}. This brand is the epitome of unity and coming together and it is emulated in the brand heavily with housing different countries flags on t-shirts and overall the respected brands message. This line is very sporty and funky and can be worn by many because of their popular screen prints and graphics. Check out our full recap below!
