Wearable Art

Ever since I ever heard of Haute Couture and what it actually was I have always been a fan of it, the beauty of something being old, vintage, or considered one of a kind really interests me. I viewed Viktor & Rolf Fall 2015 Collection and was very inspired and intrigued on how they went about creating this line. The theme/concept of their collection was inspired by art. Oil paintings and Golden wood frames are what graced the runway this year. The models actually look like they threw themselves through a painting and began walking. I think this line is pretty cool and abstract and I love something that makes me tilt my head and frown my face as my brain attempts to figure out what I am viewing. Victor & Rolf have wanted to bring the exclusivity of haute couture to the masses. Those who even own a piece of haute couture or get to view it seems to only be a select few. The fashion duo wants to democratize haute couture by encouraging followers on Instagram to create a work of art, capture its beauty in a picture and post it to your Instagram using #ViktorAndRolfArtAuction by July 14th. On that day they will choose a winner who will receive an haute couture piece inspired by the Fall 2015 Collection as the prize.

The fashion house is using this contest as a useful way to get their products to more people. So far the contest has been trending quite well since it was released yesterday {July 9, 2015} on Instagram and they are thinking of doing a contest for seasons to come in the future. I think I may submit a photo myself and see what happens. Follow @viktor_and_rolf for future updates on the contest! Best of luck to anyone who enters!
